Hi! My name is Emily. My husband, Zac, and I started CoupleJones.com. We are so excited to visit A Little Artsy today! We have been married for almost 10 years and have 3 crazy little girls. We both love design and art - he is a designer and I am a stay at home mom who loves photography, sewing, and random crafts that I get a bee in my bonnet about trying.
I like to do all kinds of different projects but I don't usually have the money or time to go out and buy a new tool or fancy craft accessory to try it with. So let me preface this post by saying this is the SLACKER'S method of making Pom Poms, no fancy tools, poms don't always turn out perfectly...BUT it also is a wonderful way to involve your kids in a craft because all you use is your fingers and yarn. There are some awesome tools out there to make Pom Poms and to make them perfect every time. But sometimes you just need to make a Pom, like right now, so this is what we do.
You need yarn and scissors. That's it.
Recently, I have been loving little Pom Poms so I enlisted my middle girl to help me with her little tiny hands.
Next, just follow these steps:
Wrap yarn as thick as you can around the ends of your fingers. Slide the looped yarn off the end of your fingers and tie a length of yarn around the loop as tightly as you can...you might need those little fingers to help again. Cut trough the looped ends of the yarn. Shake and fluff.
I tied these brightly colored Poms to a ribbon and made a garland for our dining room.
We also made a cream colored garland that I have hanging in our hallway and that I have used for some recent photo shoots.
Happy Pom making!
